This series explores the behavior of fluorescent inks suspended in oil and illuminated exclusively under ultraviolet light. Unlike my Fluorescent Ink in Water studies, which reveal the turbulence of Rayleigh–Taylor instability, here the fluids remain immiscible. The droplets hold their shape, forming spheres that glow as if lit from within.
The images balance accident and intention. Droplets distribute themselves stochastically, yet composition emerges through choices of magnification, dish depth, temperature, and even the rotation of the Petri dish. Each photograph is both experiment and artwork: the medium dictates form, while framing and selection define meaning.
At one scale, the droplets suggest constellations scattered across a night sky; at another, they become planets, cells, or jewels. The series is at once scientific and poetic — a record of immiscible light, suspended worlds revealed only under ultraviolet illumination.
